Swedish The Definite Form (The) Explained Simply
Unlike English where you put 'the' before a noun, Swedish usually attaches a suffix to the end of the noun to make it definite.
Rules
- For 'en' words ending in a consonant: add -en (bil -> bilen).
- For 'en' words ending in a vowel: add -n (flicka -> flickan).
- For 'ett' words ending in a consonant: add -et (hus -> huset).
- For 'ett' words ending in a vowel: add -t (äpple -> äpplet).
