Privacy Policy — LearnSwedishFast

Overview

LearnSwedishFast ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our website at learnswedishfast.com.

What we collect

Free users (no account)

If you play without signing up, we collect no personal data. Your progress is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. We cannot access, read, or transfer this data.

The one exception is the waitlist form on the pricing and word pages. If you choose to submit an email address there, we store that address, the page you submitted it from (signup source), how you arrived (the UTM parameters utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign, and the referring domain, if present), and timestamps. It is used only to tell you when the word pack or Premium opens and to measure which channels work. It is never sold, and you can have it deleted at any time by emailing privacy@learnswedishfast.com.

To remember how you arrived, we keep the UTM parameters and referring domain of your first visit in your browser's localStorage for up to 30 days. This is our own first-party storage, not a cookie, and it is only sent to us if you join the waitlist.

After you join the waitlist, the free download of the first 100 starter words (PDF, CSV and Anki deck) is available to you.

The optional "AI" buttons on flashcards send the word and, if you ask for an explanation, your typed answer to a free third-party AI gateway, with no account data, and only when you press them.

Premium users (account holders)

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address (for login and account recovery)
Learning progress data (words learned, scores, session statistics)
Payment information, only once paid products open (processed by Stripe — we never see your full card number)

How we use your data

To provide cloud-synced learning progress across your devices
To power the spaced repetition algorithm for optimal word scheduling
To process payments, once paid products open (nothing is for sale yet)
To send important account notifications (no marketing without consent)
To notify waitlist subscribers when the word pack or Premium opens, and to measure which channels bring signups

Cookies & local storage

We use localStorage in your browser to save game progress and preferences for free users. This storage is essential for the service and stays on your device unless you clear site data.

Analytics (optional)

With your consent (via the cookie banner), we load Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) and Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) to understand how the site is used (for example pages viewed and basic interactions). These tools may set cookies or use similar storage. We do not turn them on until you choose Accept analytics.

If you choose Essential only, those scripts are not loaded. You can change your mind anytime via Cookie settings in the footer (your choice is stored locally in your browser).

Premium accounts may use essential cookies for secure login when that feature is enabled.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only with:

Google — Google Analytics (only if you accept analytics)
Microsoft — Clarity session analytics (only if you accept analytics)
Resend (Resend, Inc., our processor) — only if enabled: sends the site owner a notice email containing the email address of each new waitlist signup
Stripe — for payment processing, only once payments open
Hosting provider — for serving the application (no access to personal data)

Data retention & deletion

Free users: Clear your browser data to remove all progress. We have nothing stored on our end.

Premium users: You can request full account deletion at any time by emailing us. We will delete all your data within 30 days.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Contact us at privacy@learnswedishfast.com for any data requests.
